Brentford Community Council (BCC)

The BCC is an independent organisation established in 1989 with start-up support from Hounslow Borough Council. Since 1999 we have been financially independent, funded by donations from organisations and individuals across the community.

A representative voice for Brentford
Our mission is to represent the general interests of the area with any person or agency providing services or undertaking activities affecting the local environment and well-being of people living in the area, specifically related to planning applications and planning issues. We are non-party political. The group is open to anyone who would like to get actively involved in the BCC or would like to bring an issue to our attention.

We are frequently consulted by the local media to provide a voice for the concerns and aspirations of Brentford people where the redevelopment of Brentford is an issue.

Brentford Sustainable Community Strategy

In the seven years since we have lived in Brentford we have joined a number of groups that are all interested in developing different aspects of Brentford. In our roles as Chair of the Brentford Community Council and Editor of BrentfordTW8.com we have met even more individuals dedicated to working towards a better Brentford. We think this is one of the main reasons that Brentford is regarded as unique in its community feel, unlike most of London.

However there is a lack of co-ordination, communication and understanding between many of the groups who all focus on their own area: for example business, planning and children. If we were better networked together community, events and the area’s development could be better supported not only by businesses and voluntary organisations, but also the groups themselves as many have mutual interests.

We therefore are taking action and are examining the possibilities of putting an overall umbrella structure into place, one that helps co-ordinate all the groups and organisations and gathers sufficient power and stature in its membership to be able to leverage funding and investment for Brentford as a whole to help deliver a better Brentford.

The first major action was to secure funding from Hounslow Council to enable us to provide the resources required to deliver a project like this, and to that end many thanks must go to the Isleworth and Brentford Area Committee (Monitoring) who granted us funding 21 January to continue.

The second major action is the collection of your views and aspirations for Brentford and we have put together a survey for you to state your views to us. The survey is available here on BrentfordTW8.com.

You can also see what documentation has been involved in the process so far in the Community Strategy section of our website library.

Please do take the time to complete the survey that is applicable to you – if you don’t tell us what you want, how can it ever happen?
