Brentford is changing, dramatically...
Few towns in the UK are changing with as much speed as Brentford. Once the industrial heartland for gas and soap production, it now finds itself amidst radical changes as the brownland sites become available and the developers move in to reap the generous rewards of meeting central government new build quotas.
There is big profit in the new apartment developments, and the planning department of Hounslow Council is under constant pressure to meet deadlines and performance targets. These two opposing forces create an environment ripe for loopholes in policy and procedure to be exploited.
Without the watchful eye of the citizens of Brentford accumulating their opinion through such channels as the BCC, rest assured there would be no Thames River access for those other than (new) private dwelling owners, and you wouldn't be able to see the sky for the un-capped apartment towers.

Development sites
This list represents most of
the larger developments either recently completed
or in the initial planning stages. They also represent
the possible doubling of the population of Brentford.
In context, Borough of Hounslow achieves all national
new build targets set down by central government in
Brentford alone. |
